The End of Economic Man
Categories: History, Politics & Social Sciences
Peter Drucker's first book, published in 1939, analyzes the rise of fascism and Nazism in Europe. He argues that the masses turned to totalitarian dictatorships out of despair, after both capitalism and Marxism had failed them. Drucker also predicted that Germany and the Soviet Union would come to terms, an alliance sealed months after publication in the Nazi-Soviet pact. Winston Churchill reviewed the book in The Times Literary Supplement, praising the author's independent and stimulating mind.
