The Doubly Green Revolution: Food for All in the Twenty-First Century
Categories: Politics & Social Sciences, Science & Math
The Doubly Green Revolution: Food for All in the Twenty-First Century (Cornell University Press, 1998; first published by Penguin in 1997) is ecologist Gordon Conway's call for a second agricultural revolution. Conway, who went on to lead the Rockefeller Foundation, argues that farming must raise yields for the hungry while conserving the environment. He urges genuine partnerships between researchers and farmers, alternatives to inorganic fertilizers and pesticides, better soil and water management, and more earning opportunities for the poor, especially women.
