The Cult of We (2021), by Wall Street Journal reporters Eliot Brown and Maureen Farrell, tells the story of the shared-office company WeWork and its co-founder Adam Neumann. The authors follow WeWork's rapid growth, fuelled by billions of dollars from investors including SoftBank, and Neumann's lavish spending and grand vision. They trace its collapse in 2019, when a failed attempt to go public exposed its losses and governance problems and Neumann was forced out.
