The Comedy of Errors
Categories: Drama, Literature & Fiction
Among Shakespeare's earliest plays, this farce follows two pairs of identical twins, the masters named Antipholus and their servants named Dromio, separated in a shipwreck as infants. When the pair from Syracuse arrive in Ephesus, where their brothers live, a day of mistaken identities begins. Meanwhile the twins' father, Egeon, faces execution unless he can raise a ransom. Shakespeare adapted the plot from Plautus, and the play was first published in the First Folio of 1623.
