In the sixteenth Nancy Drew book, strange tapping sounds are troubling the house of Miss Carter, a retired actress. The prowler somehow gets in despite locked doors and windows, and the taps seem to come in Morse code. While Nancy searches for the tapper and his motive, her investigation is complicated by the dishonest administrator of a will and by a thief who steals the actress's valuable Persian cats.
