Taxes Have Consequences is a 2022 book by economist Arthur B. Laffer, historian Brian Domitrovic and Jeanne Cairns Sinquefield, subtitled An Income Tax History of the United States, with a foreword by Donald Trump. It traces federal income tax from its creation in 1913. The authors argue that high tax rates on top earners have repeatedly slowed growth and pushed wealth out of reach of the tax system, while rate cuts have spurred prosperity. Laffer is known for the Laffer curve.
