So Late in the Day
Categories: Literature & Fiction
So Late in the Day (2023) is a short story by Irish writer Claire Keegan, published as a single book. Cathal, a civil servant in Dublin, works through a Friday that should have been his wedding day. As he goes home alone to his empty house, he recalls his relationship with Sabine, the Frenchwoman he was to marry, and the small acts and attitudes that drove her away, in a story about masculinity and the failure to love.
