Rough Country is a 2009 thriller by John Sandford, author of the Lucas Davenport Prey series. It is the third novel featuring Virgil Flowers, an agent of Minnesota's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Flowers is called away from a fishing tournament to investigate the shooting of a woman at a remote, women-only lakeside resort in northern Minnesota. The victim was a well-connected advertising executive, and the case leads him into a tangle of jealousy, local secrets, and older crimes in the area.
