Reckless (2020, Image Comics) is the first in Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips's series of original crime graphic novels. In 1981 Los Angeles, Ethan Reckless works out of a shuttered movie theater, offering extralegal help to anyone who can pay. A bomb blast in his radical student days left him unable to feel much of anything, until a fugitive from that past, his first love Rainy Livingston, asks for help recovering her share of a bank heist. Brubaker writes in the tradition of paperback series heroes.
