Pumping Iron is the classic book by writer Charles Gaines and photographer George Butler about the world of competitive bodybuilding in the early 1970s. First published in 1974, it profiles the lifters of Gold's Gym and Muscle Beach, including a young Arnold Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbu and Lou Ferrigno, with Butler's photographs of training and competition. The book led to the 1977 documentary of the same name, and this reissue includes a foreword by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
