Pudd'nhead Wilson is Mark Twain's 1894 novel about two babies switched at birth in a Missouri river town, published here with its companion piece Those Extraordinary Twins. Roxy, an enslaved woman, swaps her son with her master's baby to save him from being sold. The boys grow up in each other's places. Years later, a murder trial draws in David Wilson, a lawyer mocked as Pudd'nhead for his odd hobbies. The novel is a sharp satire of slavery and race.
