Prelude to Foundation

In this prequel, the young mathematician Hari Seldon comes to Trantor, the capital of the Galactic Empire, to present psychohistory, a theory that might predict the future but that he believes cannot be put into practice. When the Emperor and his chief of staff take an interest, Seldon goes into hiding. With the historian Dors Venabili he moves through the planet's domed sectors, including the religious enclave of Mycogen, and begins to see how his science might work.
