Power Failure
Categories: Business & Money
Power Failure (2022) is journalist and former banker William D. Cohan's history of General Electric, from Thomas Edison's founding of the company to its decline in the twenty-first century. Cohan follows the expansion of GE under Jack Welch, when it grew into a giant of finance as well as industry, and its troubles under his successor Jeffrey Immelt, as the 2008 financial crisis and costly bets exposed its weaknesses. Drawing on interviews with executives, he examines what went wrong.
