Plato's Revenge: Politics in the Age of Ecology
Categories: Politics & Social Sciences
Political scientist William Ophuls argues that ecological limits require a new kind of politics based on the laws of nature. Drawing on Plato, Rousseau and ecology, he proposes a society guided by ecological, physical and psychological principles, with simpler and more local communities. Ophuls criticizes modern industrial politics and argues that a more frugal, rooted and self-governing way of life could prove more fulfilling than endless growth.
