Pilgrim Bell: Poems
By Kaveh Akbar
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Pilgrim Bell is the second poetry collection by Iranian American poet Kaveh Akbar. The poems move between devotion and doubt, written in the voice of a speaker in recovery from addiction who searches for faith and a language for the divine. Short prayer-like pieces and longer lyrics explore family, heritage, Islam, the body and the politics of the United States. Akbar's spare, musical lines often turn on questions of silence, attention and belief.

- John Green: “I love "Pilgrim Bell", the new book of poems by Kaveh Akbar. He writes the kind of poems that get richer and more interesting the more time you spend with them.”
