Pictures at a Revolution: Five Movies and the Birth of the New Hollywood

By Mark Harris

Categories: Arts & Photography

In Pictures at a Revolution (2008), journalist Mark Harris tells the story of the five films nominated for Best Picture of 1967 at the Oscars and the changes they represented in Hollywood. Harris follows the making of Bonnie and Clyde, The Graduate, In the Heat of the Night, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and Doctor Dolittle. He shows how new directors, writers and actors challenged the old studio system, and how the films reflected changing attitudes to race, sex and violence in America.
