By Robert Slater

Robert Slater tells the story of Michael Ovitz, who co-founded the Creative Artists Agency in 1975 and built it into the dominant talent agency in Hollywood. He describes how Ovitz packaged stars, directors and writers into films, brokered corporate deals such as Matsushita's purchase of MCA, and then left CAA in 1995 to become president of the Walt Disney Company under Michael Eisner, a job that ended after little more than a year.
