Outlawed is Anna North's feminist Western set in an alternate American West after a deadly flu epidemic. In a world where women who cannot have children are suspected of witchcraft, 17-year-old Ada is unable to get pregnant after a year of marriage. To escape danger, she joins the Hole in the Wall Gang, a group of outlaws led by a charismatic preacher called the Kid. Together they plan a daring robbery while searching for a place to belong.
