Our Gang
By Philip Roth
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Philip Roth's 1971 satire of Richard Nixon and his administration, written mostly as a series of dialogues, press conferences and speeches. Its president, Trick E. Dixon, defends the rights of the unborn while waging war in Vietnam, blames a Boy Scout conspiracy for his troubles and ends up campaigning in hell. Roth wrote it as an attack on the political doublespeak of the time.

- Barack Obama: “Some of the great books by Jewish authors like Philip Roth or Saul Bellow, they are steeped with this sense of being an outsider, longing to get in, not sure what you're giving up — what you're willing to give up and what you're not willing to give up.”
