One Two Three Four: The Beatles in Time

By Craig Brown

Categories: Arts & Photography, Biographies & Memoirs

One Two Three Four (2020) is writer Craig Brown's account of the Beatles, told not as a conventional biography but in short, varied pieces. Brown mixes anecdotes, diary entries, fan letters, lists, interviews, imagined meetings and the recollections of people whose lives brushed against the band's, from Liverpool and Hamburg to Beatlemania and the break-up. The fragmentary structure lets him follow the four members and the people around them from many angles, while asking how fame changed them and everyone they met.

• Edgar Wright: “Adored Craig Brown's brilliant 'One Two Three Four: The Beatles In Time'. Funny, fascinating and beautifully structured with many detailed and engrossing tangents.”
