One of Us: Conjoined Twins and the Future of Normal is by bioethicist and historian Alice Domurat Dreger, published in 2004. Dreger looks at the history and experiences of conjoined twins and examines the push to separate them surgically, often at great risk. She argues that many conjoined people live happy lives and that the drive to normalize unusual bodies says more about others than about them. The book raises questions about identity, disability and medical ethics.

- John Green: “One of Us by Alice Domurat Dreger, which is by far the best non-fiction book ever written about conjoined twins.”
