On the Origin of Species
Categories: Science & Math
Published in 1859, Charles Darwin's book sets out the theory of evolution by natural selection. He argues that species are not fixed but change over many generations, as inherited variations that help individuals survive and reproduce become more common. Drawing on animal breeding, fossils, geology and the geographical spread of plants and animals, he builds a long argument for common descent and answers likely objections to the theory along the way.
