Old Babes in the Wood
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Old Babes in the Wood is a 2023 collection of fifteen short stories by Margaret Atwood, the Booker Prize-winning author of The Handmaid's Tale and The Blind Assassin. Several stories follow Tig and Nell, a long-married couple, across decades, ending with Nell coping with life after Tig's death, an echo of Atwood's loss of her partner Graeme Gibson. Others range from an interview with George Orwell's ghost through a medium to an alien telling human folk tales to a pandemic-era audience.
