Nothing Holds Back the Night (2011) is a book by French novelist Delphine de Vigan about the life of her mother, Lucile, who struggled with bipolar disorder. After Lucile's death, de Vigan pieces together her life from family recordings, letters and interviews, from her childhood as one of many children in a large family in Paris to her years of mental illness. She reflects on the secrets of her family and on the difficulty of writing about someone she loved.
