Nocturnes: Five Stories of Music and Nightfall
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Nocturnes (2009) is Kazuo Ishiguro's book of five stories linked by music and nightfall. In the first, a café guitarist in Venice accompanies an aging American crooner as he serenades his wife from a gondola. Others follow a teacher visiting old friends in London, a young songwriter in the Malvern Hills, a saxophonist recovering from plastic surgery in Beverly Hills, and a cellist in an Italian town who takes lessons from a mysterious woman.
