Murdered Midas, by Canadian historian Charlotte Gray, is a 2019 account of the life and death of Sir Harry Oakes, an American-born prospector who made a fortune from a gold mine at Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Oakes later moved to the Bahamas, where he was found murdered in his Nassau mansion in July 1943. Gray follows the investigation, which involved the Duke of Windsor, then governor, and the trial and acquittal of Oakes's son-in-law, Alfred de Marigny. The killing has never been solved.
