Mr Tompkins in Paperback

George Gamow's Mr Tompkins stories teach modern physics through the dreams of a curious bank clerk. After attending physics lectures, Mr Tompkins dreams of worlds where the speed of light is very slow or quantum effects are large, so the strange effects of relativity and quantum theory become visible in daily life. This volume combines Mr Tompkins in Wonderland and Mr Tompkins Explores the Atom, first published in 1940 and 1945.

Neil deGrasse Tyson: “George Gamow, physicist, wrote a book called Mr. Tompkins in Wonderland. And it's a series... very clever educational tooling there.”
