Mellon: An American Life
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, History
Historian David Cannadine wrote the first full biography of Andrew W. Mellon, the Pittsburgh banker, industrialist and Treasury secretary. The book follows Mellon from his family's banking business to investments in aluminum, oil and steel, and his long term as Treasury secretary under three presidents. Cannadine also covers his tax policies, the 1929 crash, his famous art collection and the founding of the National Gallery of Art.
