Matty's Rocket is Tim Fielder's Afrofuturist graphic novel, first self-published as a series by his Dieselfunk Studios and collected in 2019. It is set in an alternate history where pulp space adventure meets Jim Crow America, the Harlem Renaissance and the Second World War. Matty Watty, a Black girl from the Mississippi Delta, is determined to earn a space pilot's licence and command her own rocket ship despite racist barriers. The story follows her across three periods of her life.
