Looking for Alaska is John Green's first novel, published in 2005 and winner of the Michael L. Printz Award. Miles Halter, a teenager fascinated by famous last words, leaves Florida for a boarding school in Alabama to seek what Rabelais called a Great Perhaps. There he falls for Alaska Young, a clever, funny and troubled classmate. The novel is divided into before and after a tragedy that changes Miles and his friends, and explores grief, guilt and meaning.
