Lincoln on Leadership
Categories: Business & Money, History
Lincoln on Leadership, by Donald T. Phillips, was published in 1992 and examines the leadership methods of Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War, drawing on his letters, speeches and the accounts of contemporaries. Phillips organizes the book around themes such as getting out of the office to talk with people, persuading rather than coercing, building alliances, being decisive and setting goals. Each chapter ends with short principles that apply Lincoln's example to modern managers.
