Last of the Amazons
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Last of the Amazons, first published in 2002, is Steven Pressfield's novel of the war between the Athens of Theseus and the Amazon tribes of the Black Sea steppes. When Theseus wins the Amazon war queen Antiope, her people march on Athens to reclaim her. Pressfield draws on Greek myth and on Herodotus to portray Amazon society, its horsemanship and its codes of freedom and war, set against the rise of the Athenian city.

- Joe Rogan: “Like Steven Pressfield, brilliant author. ... and all of a sudden he writes Legend of Bagger Vance and all these great books and it becomes hugely successful and turned it around.”
