Categories: Drama

Jerusalem (2009) is a play by Jez Butterworth, first staged at London's Royal Court Theatre with Mark Rylance in the lead role. It is set in a wood in Wiltshire on St George's Day. Johnny 'Rooster' Byron, a hard-drinking former daredevil who lives in a caravan and supplies local youths with drink and drugs, faces eviction by the council on the day of the village fair. Friends, hangers-on and figures from his past pass through as his reckoning approaches.
