In iGen (2017), psychologist Jean M. Twenge uses large national surveys to describe the generation born after about 1995, the first to spend their adolescence with smartphones. Twenge finds that this group spends less time with friends in person, dates and drives later, and reports sharply higher rates of anxiety, depression and loneliness. She examines what these shifts mean for mental health, work and adulthood, and offers suggestions for parents and teachers.
