I Am You

I Am You is a 2025 novel by American poet and novelist Victoria Redel, inspired by the seventeenth-century Dutch still-life painter Maria van Oosterwijck and her servant Geertje Pieters. In Redel's telling, Geertje arrives in Amsterdam disguised as a boy and becomes Maria's servant, then her apprentice, model and lover, and eventually the hidden hand behind some of her work. Drawing on a sparse historical record, the novel explores art, desire and the limited place of women in the Dutch Golden Age.

Sarah Jessica Parker: “I offer an early 2026 round up. ... Sorry a bit about the length of the post but I didn't want to short shrift any of the authors. Hope some of or all of the books find their way to your hands.”
