Hold the Line: The Insurrection and One Cop's Battle for America's Soul is a 2022 memoir by former Washington, D.C. police officer Michael Fanone, written with Reuters reporter John Shiffman and published by Atria Books. Fanone recounts how he rushed to the Capitol on January 6, 2021, was dragged into the mob, beaten and tased until he had a heart attack, and then became an outspoken witness. A former Trump voter, he reflects on policing, race and politics, and warns of the threat to American democracy.
