Henry VIII
Categories: Drama, Literature & Fiction
Shakespeare's last history play, written with John Fletcher around 1613 and printed in the 1623 First Folio, follows the court of Henry VIII: the fall of the Duke of Buckingham, the king's attempt to end his marriage to Katherine of Aragon, and his attachment to Anne Bullen. Cardinal Wolsey rises and falls along the way. A cannon fired during a 1613 performance set the Globe Theatre alight and burned it down.
