Henry IV, Part 1
Categories: Drama, Literature & Fiction
Shakespeare's history play, first printed in 1598, finds King Henry IV threatened by rebellion from the Percy family, led by the fiery Harry Percy, known as Hotspur. The king is just as troubled by his own heir, Prince Hal. Hal spends his days in the taverns of Eastcheap with the fat, witty knight Sir John Falstaff, planning robberies and pranks. As the rebels gather, both plots move toward the battlefield at Shrewsbury.
