In the eighth Stephanie Plum novel, Stephanie is hired to find a missing child, but the case is not what it seems, and she must work out which side of the law she stands on. Joe Morelli, Ranger, Lula, Grandma Mazur and Stephanie's sister Valerie are all along for the ride as the crimes grow nastier and the chases faster. With her relationship with Morelli looking rocky, Ranger may see an opening in Janet Evanovich's comic caper.
