Great Jews in Sports
Last updated October 31, 2026
Robert Slater, who also wrote biographies of business leaders, first published this reference book in 1983. It profiles Jewish athletes from many sports and eras. Entries range from baseball's Hank Greenberg and Sandy Koufax to boxers, basketball players, Olympic champions and swimmers such as Mark Spitz, each with a short biography and career highlights. Later editions add athletes who rose to prominence after the book first appeared.
