Everything Is Waiting for You
By David Whyte
Categories: Literature & Fiction
David Whyte's fifth poetry collection, published in 2003, grew out of his grief at the death of his mother, Mary O'Sullivan, to whom it is dedicated. Its section Thresholds traces the experience of losing a loved one and includes "Farewell Letter," imagined as a letter from his mother after her death. Other sections, among them Friends, Marriage, Chances and Returns, explore relationships and impermanence, and the title poem considers loneliness and belonging.
