Empire and Revolution: A Radical Interpretation of Contemporary History
Last updated October 31, 2026
Written while David Horowitz was a writer and editor in the American New Left, this book offers a Marxist account of world politics after 1945. He argues that the Cold War, American economic expansion and Western intervention in the developing world were driven by the needs of capitalism, and he examines revolutions in Russia, China and the Third World. Horowitz later rejected these views and became a conservative critic of the left.
