Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds (2017) is a book by writer, facilitator and activist adrienne maree brown, published by AK Press. Inspired by Octavia Butler's fiction, the teachings of Detroit organizer Grace Lee Boggs, the natural world and complexity science, it treats change as a constant stream of emergent patterns. Rather than resisting change, brown invites organizers and communities to feel, map and learn from those patterns in order to influence them. The book launched a series and has been called a movement classic.

- Emma Watson: “I read Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brown... I think reading her book and reading about pleasure activism, which is sort of the idea that anything that you want to sustain, e.g. justice, you need it to be easy and you need it to be pleasurable in a way.”
