Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, History

In Double Crossed, Brian Wood, a former sergeant in the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, recounts the Battle of Danny Boy near Amarah in southern Iraq in May 2004. During the three-hour fight with Mahdi Army insurgents, he headed a bayonet charge that earned him the Military Cross. He then describes the war-crimes allegations made against him and his comrades and his part in the Al-Sweady Inquiry, which concluded that some of the claims were the product of deliberate lies.
