Cross
Also published as Alex Cross, this 2006 novel finds the detective out of the FBI and running a psychology practice in Washington. When a serial rapist strikes, Cross realizes the case may be connected to the man who killed his wife, Maria, years before. He returns to police work and hunts the man known as the Butcher, while the novel looks back at the night of her murder.
