Crook Manifesto is a 2023 novel by Colson Whitehead, who has won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction twice, and is the second book in his trilogy about Ray Carney, following Harlem Shuffle. Set in Harlem in 1971, 1973 and 1976, it finds Carney, a furniture dealer with a sideline in fencing stolen goods, pulled back into crime, first to get Jackson 5 tickets for his daughter, and then into schemes involving crooked police, a Blaxploitation film shoot and the arson wave of the 1970s.
