Buzz: The Life and Art of Busby Berkeley
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, Humor & Entertainment
Buzz (2011) is film historian Jeffrey Spivak's biography of Busby Berkeley, the director and choreographer whose kaleidoscopic musical numbers shaped the Hollywood musical of the 1930s. Spivak follows Berkeley from his theatre childhood and Broadway work to Warner Bros. films such as 42nd Street and Gold Diggers of 1933, with their overhead shots and geometric formations of dancers, and through the personal troubles, including a fatal car accident and manslaughter trials, that marked his later life.
