Breakfast of Champions
Categories: Literature & Fiction
Breakfast of Champions (1973) is Kurt Vonnegut's satirical novel about Kilgore Trout, an obscure science fiction writer invited to an arts festival in Midland City, and Dwayne Hoover, a wealthy Pontiac dealer whose bad chemicals are pushing him toward madness. As the two men converge, Vonnegut skewers American consumerism, racism and violence, illustrates the story with more than 100 of his own felt-tip drawings, and enters the novel himself as its author.
