Categories: Literature & Fiction
Karen Joy Fowler's 2022 novel centers on the Booth family, headed by the erratic Shakespearean actor Junius Brutus Booth, on their farm outside Baltimore. Fowler narrates through several of his ten children, among them Rosalie, the actor Edwin and Asia, as their brother John Wilkes Booth grows into the man history remembers. The novel follows the family's love, rivalries and political divisions in the decades before the Civil War and the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
