Body by Science: A Research-Based Program for Strength Training, Body Building, and Complete Fitness in 12 Minutes a Week
Categories: Health, Fitness & Dieting
Body by Science (2009, McGraw-Hill) by emergency physician Doug McGuff and John Little makes the case for brief, infrequent, high-intensity strength training. Its core Big Five workout is a single set of the leg press, seated row, chest press, pulldown and overhead press, each performed slowly to momentary muscular failure, with several days of rest between sessions. The authors explain the physiology behind the method and argue that it builds strength and fitness in about twelve minutes a week.
